1. FOX TV’s Advent calendar
Last year during the whole month of December, the Dutch TV channel FOX launched the “FOXMAS”, an Advent calendar published on its website and promoted via social media. Every day, users had the opportunity to enter a jackpot and try to win different gifts. The only condition for playing: participants had to communicate their favourite TV genres and their current TV provider. It’s an excellent question to segment its audience and be able to send the right communications to the right people afterwards.
Time for inspiration! We know how popular Advent calendars are during Christmas so discover 10 original Advent calendar ideas right here.

2. Lidl’s virtual Christmas treasure hunt
After its successful campaign of last year, the supermarket Lidl decided to launch again this year a “hidden object” campaign published simultaneously on its website and Facebook page. Consumers are invited to find, as fast as possible, the forgotten items left by Santa Claus in Lidl’s virtual store. The prize? Win €100 of toys for 20 participants. To validate their participation, users have to fill out a form with their contact details in which an opt-in to subscribe to Lidl’s newsletter is proposed.
3. “Start 2020 with €2020!”
To end the year in style, Belgium’s National Lottery launched an original and attractive campaign giving participants the chance to win €2020! To enter the contest, players had to:
- Register with the email address of their e-lotto account or create an account — an excellent way to increase the number of accounts created;
- Answer the main and the subsidiary questions;
- Play for a minimum of €20 at SCOOORE! on e-lotto — an excellent way to boost its end of the year sales 😉
The cherry on top: the National Lottery also collected subscribers to its newsletter via an opt-in proposed to its participants when they registered for the contest.
4. Èggo Kitchen’s jackpot
The Belgian kitchen specialist Èggo offered its users the chance to win one of the many gifts from Santa’s hood. After filling out a form with their contact details, players had to hit the jackpot. If they didn’t manage to get the right combination, they could try their luck again the next day. To increase its online community, Èggo added a call-to-action at the end of the contest inviting participants to follow the company on Facebook.
5. Maasmechelen Village’s personality test
Maasmechelen Village, a belgian luxury shopping outlet village, created a personality test “What Christmas are you?”. Participants were asked to answer various questions and complete a form to discover their profile. To bring traffic on its website and increase its sales, Maasmechelen Village displayed a link in the exit screen of its campaign redirecting participants to its different gift guides for Christmas.
